What is a community peer?

Community preschoolers are Weymouth residents ages three to four who learn and grow alongside classmates with special needs. They serve as positive peer models, demonstrating age-appropriate communication, social interaction, and play skills in a supportive, inclusive classroom environment. These children are toilet trained and show developmentally appropriate speech and language abilities, helping to foster meaningful friendships and shared learning experiences for all students.

How do I register my child?

The registration process begins online. Starting January 5, 2026, families should complete the first step by registering through the Family Connection website. To be eligible, children must be three years old on or before August 31, 2026.

Beginning February 3, 2026, families may call the school between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to schedule an in-person appointment to complete the second part of registration. Appointments will take place beginning February 11th and continue after February vacation. Appointments will be approximately 20 minutes in length.

A list of all required documents and forms can be found on the Registration tab of the Weymouth Public Schools website. Families should bring these materials to their appointment along with a $50 non-refundable registration fee, payable by cash, check, or money order.

Eligibility screenings will be conducted in March to determine program eligibility and placement.

How will I be notified if my child is accepted into a program at WECC?

Is there a fee?

While the Weymouth Early Childhood Center is part of the Weymouth Public Schools, it operates as a tuition-based program. Tuition rates vary depending on the program selected.

The 2025–2026 tuition schedule can be found under the Tuition tab on our website. Please note that tuition rates may increase for the 2026–2027 school year; updated rates will be available later in the spring.

Families may choose to pay tuition in one lump sum at the beginning of the school year or in 10 equal monthly payments, due on the first of each month from August through May.

We do not offer sibling discounts and do not accept tuition vouchers.

Tuition is non-refundable.

How can I get involved?

As part of the 2026–2027 school year, parents and guardians of all students are required to attend the Parent/Guardian Orientation on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., as well as a training Positive Solutions for Families on September 30, 2026, at 6:30 pm or October 7, 2026, at 6:30 pm. These sessions are designed to help families feel informed, connected, and ready for a successful school year.

Throughout the year, we offer many opportunities for parents and guardians to be involved in our school community. Beloved events include the Turkey Trot in November, a Holiday Shopping Event in December, and our Art Show in the spring. In addition, classrooms host their own special activities, which will be shared directly by your child’s teacher.

Families are also encouraged to consider joining the WECC Parent Council. This parent-led organization meets monthly with Mrs. Perez, WECC Principal, and plays an important role in planning enrichment activities and fundraisers that support our students and school community throughout the year.
